Overview

Operations

Perfect role for those who crave a life filled with experiences and human interaction. You don't need to be an extrovert to work here but a rock-solid work ethic, empathy, communication skills, self-direction, an eye for detail, and some flexibility are critical.

Key Responsibilities

Reception - answering phones, managing reservations, welcoming & assisting guests, maintaining safety & comfort of the hostel.

Lodge & Property Keeping - turning over guest rooms, cleaning all common areas of the hostel, laundry, deep cleaning as needed, shoveling in winter, garden maintenance in summer.

Breakfast & Bar Service - preparing simple recipes for our daily continental breakfast, maintaining kitchen inventory, very basic bar service during the afternoon/evening shift, setting out & maintaining breakfast during the morning shift.

Shuttling - we operate a hiker shuttle (in summer/fall) for thru-hikers and other guests looking to explore the area efficiently. You are not required to have any specific licensure other than a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the understanding that we have a zero-tolerance policy for anything that would put a guest at risk in our care. Most trips will be a few miles to the trailhead locally, but you may be required to do longer trips when needed.

Additional Details

For this role, we are looking for both full-time and part-time staff.

For part-time, we could use help with both morning and evening shifts but are somewhat flexible with exact hours. Here are three example shifts: Morning: 6:30am - 11am, Evening: 4pm - 8pm, Evening: 5-10pm.

For full-time, often split shifts can be required, so having a desire to ski/mountain bike/hike mid-day is important to make the most of your time working at HoME.
